Mountain Trail in Spain Video

Post  Tugga on Mon Mar 14, 2011 5:29 am

I didn't like this, its very scarey. It takes about 6 minutes to watch but it feels like an hour.

If you enjoyed that, try watching the motorcycle one & the downhill cycle one that are linked under the Camino Del Rey video. They must be barkin' mad Shocked

No....they are stupid idiots with no thought for the locals here who have to rescue them frequently and on average 6 times a year pick up their broken bodies below.
It is forbidden to go on this path and the entrances are blocked off, not that this stops them, on fiesta weekends there are security guards stopping them, but the rest of the time they just keep coming..........( maybe they need these to stop them blast )
Its a beautiful area, its the view from my house and I shiver every time I hear the sirens of the rescue teams going up there and the helicopters recovering the bodies.
There are plenty of amazing walks in this area without going on the camino del rey.....

You wouldn't get me up there if my life depended on it Savannah, I hate heights and dangerous ones, forget it.

I think it is some humans nature that if they are told they cannot do something, they will go to do it to prove that they can either to themselves or the person who tells them no. It is clearly very dangerous up there so why hasn't it been completely dismantled. Looking at the state of the metal, it is all rusted through and wouldn't take much to get rid of it. That way, nobody can go up there and no lives would be lost.

This makes perfect sense to me. Very Happy

I like to walk too but would never go along anything that unsafe!-although did a walk in the Lake District where the path was crumbling way with quite a drop/slide down into the water-also walked the coast path in south Wales near Parrog and when I looked back all the cliff had been eroded away underneath where I had just walked -that was a bit unnerving

I remember doing Striding Edge in the Lake District when I was in my teens and we nearly lost a member of our party then, that was quite scary.

I've been there. I did a cycle tour of Andalucia in 2006. That place has a railway bridge and tunnel that was used in the film Von Ryan's Express.
I'll dig some pictures out later

You are so right...however we are in spain and they are still arguing over who is responsible for the upkeep of it.
Added to which their king once set foot on it so...'hey lets make it a tourist attraction'...we've been here 13 years and they are STILL talking about it !!!
Meanwhile idiots keep risking their lives and those of their rescuers by walking on it....the whole area is a rock climbing mecca so no surprise that lots try their luck.
The metal bridge near the start of the walk is where richard burton was shot running across it in von ryans express.
the whole area is stunningly beautiful and after all these years I never tire of the view to el chorro.
There is a camp site there too and although for years it has not been suitable for motorhomes it has recently been taken over by the company who own La Sierracilla site at Humilledero nr Antequera so they have upgraded it.
Lots of wildcamping outside the entrance but not recommended as too many 'dodgy' people there.
If you ever want to wildcamp there are lots of places up at the actual lakes Smile

Come and visit...you will love it ( not in summer ) Wink
